Vorbis support For PN60E550

Dec 11, 2012 3:01AM PST

Hello I recently purchased this TV and noticed I can hook my external hard drive to it, I can play a number of the movies that I own that I have on my hard drive but I also get the no support for VORBIS codec I'm almost computer illiterate so i have no idea what this mean I just know that it has no sound with these movies. How can this be fixed so that I may have sound on the files that have that codec, also on a side not I sometimes get a AAC codec error code. Please help I need sound to distract the kids while I work lol

Thanks
Eric

Such files are usually for a PC to play.

Just like your DVD Video player, you can't pop anything in there and expect it to play. The same is true here. While TVs have come a long way, there's no PC inside this. It's that simple.

So there is no update to fix this then and I just give up on those files?

Never saw one come out.

It's been a few years of Smart TVs and folk were thinking they might stand in for a PC but they are slowly learning these are appliances and not a PC.

You can research and learn about converting to supported formats or make Video DVDs from them as most folk know how to play those.
