Volume won't go to max

Feb 12, 2011 4:21AM PST

What's going on? I'm trying to push the volume slider up to the top & it's stuck at around 3/4ths to the top. I try to go higher & I hear a loud, obnoxious beep & it stays put.

What now?

Your post didn't reveal make, model or drivers updated by Windows Update (which is a common source of driver problems.)

Refine your results

Operating System = Windows XP.
Category = Audio

That will change the listing to display driver details, in this case Sigmatel - Driver. Download to some temporary area.

Return to the web site which displays this Sigmatel - Driver and click that, (it is a clickable link). This takes you to a new page which has Installation Instructions. Follow those.

Another way, (to make sure), "Dell Recommends" you enter your Dell Service Tag to see the latest updates for your system. Click the link where it says, "Enter a Service Tag".
