While I know why this is, it will not change how long it will take for them to reverse the change.
Right or wrong (me!) I would shop Sony if this must work but always check specs.
My Vizio M65-D0 no longer passes DTS5.1 from my 4K Blu-Ray player to my DTS compatable surround system. I called Vizio technical support and after making several calls and getting a runaround I was told the M65-D0 no longer supports DTS5.1 or Dolby5.1 through the HDMI cables. Since when doesn't a TV support surround through HDMI cables? I asked for a supervisor who after putting me on hold for 10 minutes told me that there was a bad firmware update and that a correction will be made soon. How long is soon? I was planning on a Super Bowl party which I now have to cancel. This TV is a replacement by Vizio from another defective Vizio TV. The technical support staff is either ignorant or not informed regarding the Vizio product. I am now planning on selling the TV at a loss for a more reputable brand. After all what good is a home theater system when the TV/Monitor doesn't pass the sound properly? If I sound upset and discusted, I am after shelling out over $1K.
You leave out the necessary details so we can assist.
That said, you do not need HDMI out, unless your surround sound gear requires it. In other words, the AV receiver you are using or soundbar likely has digital optical inputs. In this regard you can simply use a digital optical cable from the Vizio to either your soundbar or AV receiver.
Which make/models are you working with btw? Please be as detailed as possible.
Also- why would you need it if you have a cable or satellite box? Or are you using the built in HDTV tuner to receive the super bowl broadcast? Again, knowing more particulars will allow us to tailor a solution
