VIZIO 37" SCREEN PROBLEMS

Aug 14, 2010 6:10PM PDT

I have a Vizio 37" LCD (I think it's model 370VM) TV connected to a DirecTV HD DVR (HR-23-700). Almost daily, the TV is displaying jagged white lines across either the top or bottom of the screen (regardless of whether the content is HD or SD).

Vizio asserts that this issue is solely related to the DirecTV signal, but the problem does NOT exist when connecting other flat screen TVs.

I've been told the problem is related to "bit lines," which I believe pertain to extra data or other information transmitted by broadcasters but not always recognized by the TV, cable/satellite receiver or both.

The Vizio has vertical and horizontal settings, some of which eliminate the problem -- but only temporarily. The jagged lines immediately re-appear after changing the channel.

Anyone heard of this problem? Any Vizio users having this problem? Or those with other LCD brands? Any advice is appreciated.

1. Try this TV somewhere else (friends, family, preferably also the shop where you bought it) to get a clear picture of when it works OK and when it doesn't.
2. Then construct a warranty case (if you still have warranty) or have it repaired.
