by stockbroker1 / April 20, 2009 8:31 PM PDT

Well I will start here and say that I got a Vista ultimate full disc so I can upgrade to Ultimate,,but when I start my computer in f12 it comes up to ask me iff I want to install, when I say yes install ,it asks for serial number ,when I put in serial number it will not install as I am not connected to the internet, I am only connected via 3g usb but when this page comes up I cannot connect to internet ,and then it refuses to install, there are only3 icons that I can see on disc and that is bootmng, sources, and boot, there is no setup link ,,I did install it once and registered it but decided to go back to ultimate as I could not find the drivers for Toshiba A200
Satilite,I really only want to upgrade if possible otherwise I will lose all my drivers, and Toshiba said that they wont sell me a upgrade disc, I am not very computer savvy 64 yr old so hope you can help
Kind Regards

The answer is sadly simple.

Microsoft is making new demands to keep piracy at bay.

So when you run into this you have only to call the company that you paid the money to for that Vista Ultimate license.

You have a license issue and not a technical one. And no one here should tell you ways to get around Microsoft license traps.

The drivers issue is an old one. After years of searching for drivers today I advise to install the OS that the laptop came with and try to get by.

what operating system do you have installed now?

you say "i did install it once and registered it but decided to go back to ultimate"? if you already have ultimate installed, why are trying to upgrade to ultimate?

when installing/upgrading to vista, you do not need to enter the serial number. vista will install itself as a 30 day trial and the serial number can be entered later.

Help, my PC with Windows 10 won't shut down properly

Since upgrading to Windows 10 my computer won't shut down properly. I use the menu button shutdown and the screen goes blank, but the system does not fully shut down. The only way to get it to shut down is to hold the physical power button down till it shuts down. Any suggestions?
