Vista Problems !!!!!!!

Jul 25, 2007 10:50PM PDT

I AM HAVING SO MANY PROBLEMS WITH VISTA I AM THINKING ABOUT GETTING RID OF IT. NOW WHEN I TRY TO TURN ON THE PC, I CONTINUE TO GET A BLACK SCREEN. NOTHING SHOWS UP, I MOVE THE MOUSE AROUND, ETC.. WHEN I TRY AGAIN IT ASKS ME WHICH MODE I SHOULD START IN. I'VE ALWAYS STARTED IN NORMAL WINDOWS, THAT DIDN'T WORK. THEN I TRIED ALL THE DIFFERENT MODES.
DOES ANYONE HAVE ANY SUGGESTIONS ? I APPRECIATE ANYONE'S HELP.

THANKS,

Do you have the Vista DVD?
Jul 26, 2007 2:10PM PDT

If so, insert it and boot to it instead of Windows. (You may have to change your BIOS settings so that the DVD drive is the primary boot device.) Click Next to confirm the language/keyboard settings, then choose the Repair My Computer option from the bottom left corner. Startup Repair should be your first shot, but if it doesn't work you can repeat choosing System Restore instead.

Let us know how it goes.

network info.
Aug 6, 2007 10:57PM PDT

I assume it is possible for a co-worker in the same network we both use to be able to track all my webmail info. and websites I would check out without going to extreme measures. If so, how would he do it and how would I know or be able to find out? Is there something that would catch my eye or something I should look for. Thank you for any and all of your help.

That depends...

That depends entirely on the setup of the network, security precautions taken, access to the terminal used, and access to the records the company likely keeps. If software were installed on the terminal to log keystrokes, visited websites, etc. you could scan for spyware and keyloggers, assuming you have administrative access to the computer. Beyond that, though, there's likely no way for you to know if he or your employers are watching. That's why it's best to limit the network's and computer's usage to work-related matters.

Two possible solutions
Aug 8, 2007 5:16AM PDT

I had the same problem. This is what I suspect were/ are the solution/s.

Is your equipment Vista compatible, especially your mouse?

Did you enable the line at the bottom of your start up screen on Vista. Remember that annoying screen that first popped up when you started Vista that said "ACTIVATE" at the bottom of it. It was easy to over look. If you don't enable this button then Vista will shut down after thirty days and not restart. If you enabled this while loading the software it may not have worked, mine didn't, so double check it. If you enabled it during the load/boot it vanishes from the start up screen but can be found in control panel. Unfortunately it vanishes from there too so I can't tell you were I found it perhaps someone else can.

Perhaps the most important line in the computer hidden in the fine print or doesn't work, amazing!
