Vista OS incompatible with Wireless??

We bought my daughter a new notebook, Gateway, that will not pick up wireless at hotspots that my notebook with XP does. Why is this?

Here's a few posts about it -> http://forums.cnet.com/5208-7585_102-0.html?forumID=19&threadID=269051&messageID=2613146 among others means you really need to make the call to the maker until they either issue the BIOS, the driver or get you a working laptop.

Try the DHCP BROADCAST item just in case -> http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=VISTA+DHCP+BROADCAST+FLAG&btnG=Google+Search&aq=f&oq=

Yes, that was a dumb thing on some party's part....

Vista wireless problem

Bob,

Thanks for your help. However, it is not that the Vista "locks" up or freezes, the problem is that although the computer will "see" the wireless network, when I try to connect it will say unable to connect.

Thanks, Bob

Did you try the DHCP broadcast flag?

The issues are both machine lockups and can't connect. And some routers reboot when a vista machine tries to connect.

Sorry if I brought up all the issues. For now try the DHCP item, test and then begin calling the maker about it. If you don't get satisfaction start saying so and get your money back.

Help, my PC with Windows 10 won't shut down properly

Since upgrading to Windows 10 my computer won't shut down properly. I use the menu button shutdown and the screen goes blank, but the system does not fully shut down. The only way to get it to shut down is to hold the physical power button down till it shuts down. Any suggestions?
