Vista Operating System Troubleshooting

Jul 9, 2009 11:06PM PDT

Does anyone know how to fix my vista laptop? I just turned it on, and it loaded properly. I signed in properly, but then it seemed as if the whole thing stopped loading. I could see my desktop and everything, but i could not click on anything. My cursor could still move, but it could not click on anything. The keyboard does not even affect anything. My email is rajkashyap777@gmail.com

For starters

For starters, does the keyboard work outside of Windows? When you first turn your system on and you see some kind of vendor splash screen with the option to press some button to enter setup... If you press that button, does the computer respond to your key press?

While I'd say malware damage to the OS is far more likely, there IS at least the possibility that your keyboard and/or keyboard controller have ceased functioning. To rule that out, you need to verify that the keyboard functions outside of Windows. Preferably the mouse too, but one thing at a time.

The keyboard and mouse

Yes, the keyboard does work before I log into an account. The mouse also works. I do not think it is a problem with these two, but a problem with the computer. If you have any ideas of what i might do, please reply. Thank You.
