Vista Networking w/Apple Laserwriter

by garyh99 / December 3, 2007 2:55 AM PST

I'm trying to add an Apple Laserwriter 16/600 PS as a network printer to my PC running Vista. I am able to use it from my PC running XP Pro, but not the one running Vista. Here's what I did to add it to an XP PC, but it doesn't work in Vista.

1. Add printer
2. Local Printer
3. Create a new port...LPR
3. IP number: 1.192.168.1.111
4. Port name: raw (Necessary for Apple LaserWriter)
5. Chose manufacturer and printer model from list
6. Continue with install

I can complete steps 1-4 in Vista, but for step 5, Apple is not listed as a manufacturer. I therefore can't complete the install. Microsoft and Apple have not been helpfull, so far.

Can someone please help! The LaserWriter is a great printer and I want to keep using it.

Sounds like Adobe, Microsoft, and Apple need to get their acts together.

Help, my PC with Windows 10 won't shut down properly

Since upgrading to Windows 10 my computer won't shut down properly. I use the menu button shutdown and the screen goes blank, but the system does not fully shut down. The only way to get it to shut down is to hold the physical power button down till it shuts down. Any suggestions?
