Question

Vista machine turns itself on at 20:00 each night?

May 7, 2012 6:01AM PDT

Hi All
I have a Vista Home Basic PC which switches itself on (from full power off not hibernation or sleep) at 20:00 every night. Any ideas on how to stop this?
Many thanks

Answer
Looks like a scheduled shut down.

Do you mean a shut down, not a Switch off?

If so it looks like a shut down has been scheduled. Have a look at the Task Scheduler.

Hi
No it powers itself on! At 8 o/c every night it switches itself on. cant find anything in the scheduler or BIOS but not entirely sure what I should be looking for in there. I've tried leaving the LAN wire out too. But this is from a full power off not sleep mode and at 8 o/c it starts up! Short of unplugging the thing from the mains I cant find a way to stop it!
