If things worked BEFORE ESET, try uninstalling it.. We're seeing a number of such problems with various antivirus suites.. It can be a compatibility problem.. or a firewall issue that conflicts with the Windows firewall (confirm there is only one firewall running)or a number of other things.. Uninstalling it should tell you whether the program is the culprit..
Another frequent culprit is outdated modem or router firmware. Vista seems to "need" the most current firmware. Check the website for both devices and download and install the most recent firmware. The DNS Configuration error seems to lead in this direction....
Hope this helps.
I have a new Dell Inspiron 530 with Windows Vista 32bit that's less than 2 weeks old. It worked fine at first but after a few days later and after I installed ESET Smart Security I started to loss my internet connection. Whether the two are related or not I'm not sure because I have temporary disabled the anti virus and firewall and it did not seem to help. The only way I could get a connection was to unplug the modem and wait 10 seconds and plug it back in but the connection would not last. Today my ISP hooked up a Linksys' 2.4GHz Broadband Router in addition to the modem which seems to help but I am now losing my connection intermittently. When I use Windows to run a diagnosis it comes up with Problem with Domain Name Server Configuration. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.
