Vista - Internet disonnections due to inactivity

Mar 12, 2007 3:11AM PDT

Just started using Vista with ny broadband connection via Ethernet cable. Can anyone help with when i am connected to the internet all is working fine, until i leave the set alone for a period of approx 30 / 45 mins without any inactivity the system has logged me out
And the only way to reconnect is to either re-start or remove the cable and re-instert it again?

My laptop with a similar cable to the same modem has no problems (XP)

Some questions...
Mar 12, 2007 5:17AM PDT

* When you say you are logged out, do you mean you are logged out of Windows or that your internet connection is terminated? (Or both?)

* What can you tell us about your hardware? The make/model of both the modem and NIC may be helpful, as it's possible this is a compatibility issue with Vista. If it is, you may be able to solve it with updated software and drivers.

Let us know.
John

Which ISP?

The only thing different I can find on Vista compaired to XP is that Vista is self tweaking on the network connections and change automatically for a given situation.
I have Linksys modem and when I went to Vista I did not have to do anything it just came up and never skips a beat. I am on Comcast HSI.
You say it is a broadband connection, is it cable or DSL?
The only thing I can find on that modem is that it is USB for DSL.
