Vista installation in a foreign PC

Jul 23, 2007 10:16PM PDT

I just wonder. If I buy a Windows Vista from the US and install it in a computer in Europe, will it be any issue installing it, or it will install without any hitches?
Thanks for your help.

(NT) I suppose that can be done without any issue.

No, but...

You can install any version of Windows anywhere in the world and it will connect to download updates as it would in it's 'native' country without a hitch. There are two notes, though:
1.) Be mindful of the export laws. (Not all software/hardware can be taken to all countries.)
2.) Remember it will remain an English-speaking edition and cannot be changed unless it's Vista Ultimate with the downloaded MUIs.

Hope this helps,
John

...and where can I ask about this export law? (If you know)

Microsoft has a FAQs page...

After looking over this FAQ page provided by Microsoft there doesn't appear to be a problem for any European countries, though you can read into it yourself. Thankfully it's not as restrictive as some other products, which list a couple dozen countries, including a few in Europe.
