Hi Barky
This is not help im afraid. I have just got Vista Ultimate and Home Premium and trying to install on my PC, Intel based with simliar specs and am getting the Exact same problem.
We could really use some help guys.
I just purchased Vista Home Premium and have spent 3 days trying various ways to install it. Basically what happens is the install procedure goes as far as copying files (100%), expanding files (27%) then reboots, upon reboot I briefly see the Windows green scrolling bar then my screen goes blank (even overnight). When I do restart manually an enter Windows XP Home I get the following message:
Your version of Windows has been restored, and you can continue to use it. Before trying to install this version of Windows again, check to see if it is compatible with your computer. Go to Microsoft website (www.microsoft.com) and search for "upgrade advisor".
I am doing a clean install on a brand new western Digtal 250Gb hard drive, and will use dual boot to choose either XP Home or Vista.
Here are my PC specs:
AMD Athlon XP 2400+, 2GHz processor
2.5 Gig of memory
Maxtor 60Gig hard drive (XP operating system on it) IDE
Western Digital 250 Gig Hard drive (for Vista hopefully) IDE
Pioneer DVD-106 DVD Rom
Plextor PX-708A DVD/CD read write
ATI X1650 Pro graphics card with 512MB Memory
Anti-virus has been unistalled
To the best of my knowledge all drivers and firmware are latest possible.
Upgrade advisor indicates no issues with any of my hardware.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thank You in advance.
