Vista home premium freezes

I am having window vista on my computer. Once I start the computer it run runs great for few mins. But if I disable the network it work great and once I try to connect to internet it freezes for about 2 to 5 mins. Some help required?

MY SYSTEM DETAILS ARE UNDER:-
CORE 2 DUO 2.6 Ghz
160 GB Hard drive ide
graphic card e-GeForce 8400 GS 512MB ddr2
memory -2.0 Ghz
OS- window vista home premium
IP- verizon High speed internet (DSL)

That 8400 is a common sight at the shop counters.

Given still pretty sparse details and no story other than it locks up I only have 3 suggestions.

1. DO THIS NOW -> Video at http://reviews.cnet.com/4520-11319_7-6240575-1.html

2. With step 1 done, take Grif's advice at http://forums.cnet.com/5208-6121_102-0.html?threadID=378815&tag=forums06;forum-threads

3. If it is still locking up and a restore to a factory install fails then my primary suspects are the video card and power supply (based on shop repair trends.)

Yes it could be hard drive, ram or the old BAD CAPS (see google) but without a first hand inspection (which you can do for BAD CAPS) I'd start with the 3 items above.

Hope this cures it.
