How do other browsers (like Firefox and Chrome, both free - not only to try, but also to use) behave?
And what is "garbled"? And what are "add sites"?

garbled means words and sentences are all mixed up and on top of each other and can't be read. Adds mean pages from various sites like CNET and PCH but not emails from my contacts. Thanks for your response.
Things to do now:
1. Download Firefox and Chrome and tell how those do.
2. Run IE without addons (http://www.nirmaltv.com/2009/04/28/how-to-run-ie8-without-add-ons/) and tell if that makes a difference.
