hi
i have received OS back up and media direct discs for my vostro 1400.

1: can i make bootable copies of these discs. if yes, can any one please explain this for me and through which software and with steps, please.

2: can i make copies of these discs to my pc hard drive and install windows from these copies?

3: can i make restore image of my pc on hard drive or dvd/cd. and through which software can i do that.
please do help

You copy them just like any other CD. Since you didn't supply which CD recording software you own the answer is short. Click on the Copy CD button.

1.) Yes, you can duplicate the recovery discs, though as Bob said the exact instructions depend on your burning software.

2.) You can copy the contents to the hard drive, but you would be unable to use it to reinstall Vista. It would work if it was a retail copy of Vista and you were creating a dual-boot system, but in this case the install process would have to reboot the computer, at which point the 'media' would be inaccessible and the process would fail.

3.) Some Vista editions (Business, Enterprise, and Ultimate) have that ability built in, but otherwise you can turn to third-party cloning software such as Acronis TrueImage.
