A 3 month old NEW machine locks up daily. Is that in the records at HP? That is, if it fails at 13 months would you be calling HP to tell them the machine has had troubles for 10 months only to hear "I'm sorry but I have no record of that."
Now another idea. We know that Windows media player can crash on some content. So if you want to tilt at that windmill go right ahead. I decided it would be easier to use VLC PLAYER.
I've got a 6 month old HP HDX16 notebook, with Vista Home Premium 64 bit running, Avast Anti-Virus and ZoneAlarm firewall.
My problems are these:
I use this computer about 2 hours a day to watch videos. EVERY SINGLE DAY it freezes.
It always freezes when I'm in firefox or IE - everything will be fine, and then suddenly new tabs I open in either browser will say "loading" and never load, even though I am still online (it's definitely not an internet problem, trust me.)
So I close the browser, and try and open it again - then I get an error box that says "Firefox is already running, end the process or restart."
But when I go into my task manager, Firefox is listed as a *32 process and when I hit "end process," nothing happens. The process will not end.
And then I cannot turn off or restart the PC - neither command works. I say "restart," and again, nothing happens. I'm usually forced to hold down the power key and shut it down that way.
I downloaded CCleaner, Malwarebytes anti-malware, Advanced System Care, ran virus scans - nothing worked.
Is there anything else I can do? This is getting so frustrating, it's been doing this for like 3 months. And it's a relatively new machine! Any help would be much appreciated!
