Vista Drivers

Jul 18, 2007 3:35PM PDT

I bought an Acer computer with Windows Vista Home Premium on it. It runs really slow so I want to downgrade it to XP. When I downgraded it, I cannot access the internet because I don't have the drivers installed for my Ethernet card and other hardware in my laptop. I was wondering if I can run the hardware wizard in XP and use the Vista CD that came with my Acer laptop to obtain the drivers. Btw, my laptop model is the Acer Aspire 5570-2609

Thanks in advance!

Is that the 599 Staples unit with..

Core Duo, 1G RAM and such? If so I have that unit. The speed does pick up with usage but I ejected Norton and put on Free AVG.

After a week it seems just fine on speed except the video is another 9x0 GMA solution so games are not going to fly.

Same unit

Yeah it's the same unit except it got it from Microcenter for $520. So all I have to do is get rid of Norton and my computer will be faster? If so, I was wondering if there are any other things I can get rid of too.

When it booted...

I declined Norton and installed Free AVG. My wife is happy with this laptop. We went from a XP laptop with 512MB, 1.8GHz Athlon 64 to this. It's zippy once it's booted in comparison. That dual core seems to pay out. I am not going to install XP on it.
