Vista Crashed- No Install/Boot disc-Hard disc is empty-HELP!

Oct 24, 2010 2:00PM PDT

Boot error on original OS, son tried to fix it- wiped out the hard drive entirely. I have no original OS installation disc and recovery disc doesn't work. I have the product sticker for Vista on the bottom of my Toshiba laptop. What should I so? Your help is sincerely and deeply appreciated. THANK YOU!

List the steps you performed with the Recovery Disk. The BIOS boot start-up has to be changed first, then insert the disk.

Try the cheapest solutions.

If you didn't make restore media call Tosh and ask how much for them. Even at 99 bucks this is the cheap exit.

Now if you want to skip Windows, consider installing Linux. You can then get on the internet but not much else for free.

some makes of computers have restore partitions or recovery partitions. Check on the documentation of your particular make and model. Some recovery partitions are accessed by hitting the F1 key or f2 when booting up.This recovery partition will restore computer to original factory settings. You will lose any saved data .
Chances are your son wiped out the C: drive partition and the OS.
What error message do you get when attempting to boot up?
