the learning curve for Linux is too high for this casual user
So true. Been using Linux here for a while and recently I decided to use Linux instead of Windows to see what would happen -- so far so good. No problems.

I had forgotten about the freezes and lockups of Win95 until Vista. But this new fangled hardware lacks the reset button that enabled me to instantly (well almost) reboot Win95. If I leave my computer up and running overnight, I usually come back to a locked up machine and lockups when running programs are all too frequent. Then I have to power off in order to reboot. I can't wait for Windows 7 to be released. I would already be gone to Linux if I could get it to do the things I need it to. But the learning curve for Linux is too high for this casual user. Perhaps the same could be said for Vista

That's sadly a myth that I hope continues or dies. I'm agnostic about OS and OS WARS.

That was 5 years ago and people found themselves to be able to use Linux them without any issue at all. Today's versions are even better.
