VISTA Boot-Up Problem

Jan 30, 2010 2:08AM PST

Immediately following a power failure here in NC due to local weather, I am receiving the following error messages during my VISTA Boot-up:

STOP! C0000218 (REGISTRY FILE FAILURE)
The Registry Cannot Locate the Hive (File)or log alternative
It is Corrupt, absent or not available.
Collecting Data for Crash Dump
Initializing Disk for Crash Dump
Physical Memory Failure

I've run the IOLO Medic Program but haven't corrected the problem.

Any other ideas?

Never found those IOLO things useful.

And in fact can cause more troubles. Skipping that, I can't find what machine you wrote about and more importantly do you have a RETAIL MICROSOFT ISSUED VISTA DVD for us to use to get to a repair console.

Many machines come with restore media or none and repairs to this issue are not possible. We end up using the restore media to start over.

Hope there's a backup of what you can't lose.
