Vista Boot up Problem

Apr 18, 2009 7:30AM PDT

I just bought a Lenovo 3000 H210 desktop computer. My problem is Vista willl not complete the boot up cycle, I just get a blank screen with a cursor blinking in the top left screen. But, when I shut off all the power and disconnect all the USB devices it boot up fine. Then I can connect all the USB hubs and it works fine. But as soon as I shut off the computer I have to go through the entire process of removing the USB bus to get ity to reboot, any suggestions?

Vista has Startup repair feature.

Load the OS disc at the BIOs screen (first screen to appear). Pass by the languages section, then it might test for drives, then on the screen with the list choose "Startup repair". No "recovery" disc? Most hardware provider make them available for a small fee.

Remove all USB first. Vista has a problem with permanently installed USBs (Ready Boost).

This does not repair all start up problems but it is a good first step.

This startup issue is before Windows loads.

Read all the links above and while Vista Startup Repair is a fine idea, it has yet to fix this one.
