On homebuilts I find that the BIOS must be noted to be Vista compatible (and the hardware too.)
But your post wrote nothing about motherboard and other non-Microsoft supplied drivers. Some builders stop installing drivers when it works and the most common missing driver is the motherboard one.
Without those drivers, odd crashes are not uncommon. That and heat induced crashes.
Try a little more about the install and if the case cover is off or not.

My computer has been crashing just about every day for a month with a blue
screen. Now the blue screen has no words on it. Just a blank blue screen

now i did dump my temo folders but it continued to do it. here are my
computer specs.
AMD Athlon(tm) 64 FX-62 Dual Core Processor (2CPUs), ~2.8GHz
2046MB RAM
ATIFireGL V3100
it was a straight clean install of vista. I am sorry fot the long post, but
I figured the more information I gave you the better someone could help me.
