Vista Backup at Boot up Driving me crazy

Sep 23, 2008 11:18PM PDT

When I boot up vista it tells me to remove unused programs every time. Also it tells me to back up my programs but when I try to it tells me I have no space left. I don't want to back up, how can I turn this off.

Which backup service is it?

For the backup feature built into Vista you can go Control Panel->System and Maintenance->Backup and Restore Center->Change Settings->Turn Off.

However, PC manufacturers often bundle their own, as do internet security suites now, so it may be a third-party application 'at fault.'

John

I did what you said and when I clicked on change settings it asked me what kind of back up I wanted.

If you have your start menu/task bar set to "remove unused icons" it will annoy you to death at start up with a reminder like what you are seeing.

Check that angle and see if it clears it up. Righ click on your task bar and look for the remove unused icons box. Make sure it's not checked.
