Vista and Word

Feb 7, 2007 10:21AM PST

Just got a new Compaq with Vista installed. The included Word is only good for a trial period. Will other versions of Word work on Vista? I think I read somewhere that word2003 would be compatible? Thanks for any help !

Microsoft word 2007

After I upraded to Vista I loaded office 2003 with word 2003. Every document I had backed up from my XP would only open in Note pad. The only other option was Acrobat reader which said it couldn't open my documents. The only way I could save documents was in rich text format.
I downloaded the 60 day trial version of Microsoft home and student 2007 and my problems were gone. I could pretty much see the writing on the wall so I went out and bought it a couple days later.
Download and try it, I am sure you will like it.

... I see is that I should not upgrade to Vista...yet, until such time when compatibility and drivers issues are solved - maybe in one to two years time or when Vista SP2 is available. Happy

Microsoft Office 2003, XP, and even 2000 should work without a hitch, despite the fact that Office 2007 was designed for Windows Vista. Keep an eye out for updates to Office as well, which should fix any compatibility issues as they arise.
