Vista and Windows Defender

by auggief / February 15, 2007 12:39 AM PST

WHen I tried to update Windows Defender, I received this message: THe program can't check for updates. Error Code 0x80240029.
I googled that error code but doud nothing. I also went to the refered microsoft site which said to RUN wuaucpl.cpl.
I got a "can't find"
I contacted Dell and was told that Microsoft is aware of this problem and that I should disable Windows Auotmatic update and update manually. Since I did do a manual update of Windows Defender, I just ended the conversation.
In checking Windows update history, I see that I haven't had any updates isnce 2/8/07 and that happened to be for defender KB 915597
Any more info on this?
