vista and older games

When trying to play any of the baldur's gate games ( Icewind dale I & II, BGSOA) the cursor leaves ghosts all over the screen obscuring the display. I haven't seen any patches for this at interplay. My old machine running windows 98 plays them fine. My new machine with vista ultimate is having the problems. Any help or links to downloads would be appreciated.

Older games on Microsoft Vista

In reply to: vista and older games

I have a problem with XP Playing some older games never mind Microsoft Vista.

1) To much Memory is one off the issues with playing older games on Windows XP, More than 1.5 gigs.

I read some where that you will be able to play some off the older games on vista but they did not say wich ones.
I do not know if the change from Vist beta 2 to RC1 will make a differance or not.
May be they will tone Vista down a couple off notches.

Good Luck

Have you tried compatibility mode?

In reply to: vista and older games

Right-click the game's executable, select Properties, select the Compatibility tab, check the box to run it in compatibility mode, and select Windows 98 from the drop-down menu. You'll also want to try disabling themes, running it in 256 colors, etc. If the game still does not function properly then you'll have to hope for an update from the game's developer.

Hope this helps,
