I decided to try and boot from flash drive, using this guide:
http://www.techmixer.com/install-windows-vista-from-bootable-usb-flash-memory-drive/
booted from the flash drive and managed to format drive and vista is currently installing.
Thought I'd post this up, just in case.
Hi
I am attempting to format a friends Fujitsu Amilo Li 2727 laptop, as its riddled with bugs. So I backed up all the important files and attempted to boot the laptop from the Vista Installation DVD.
However, when I try to do this I first see the text:
"Booting GRLDR"
"Resetting the boot drive"
then about 5 seconds later another screen appears for a split second with a heap of other text, although it does not appear quick enough to read any of it. The laptop then proceeds to load up the Vista installation from the hard drive.
I have checked the boot options and I hav eset the DVD drive as the first source to check when booting up.
I have done a quick research into GRLDR. It appears it is used for dual booting machines (Linux and Windows), however this machine has only ever had Vista installed on it. I then found out that it is used on pirated copies of Windows to get around validation.
I am attempting to install with a legit copy of Vista, so it would seem that the current version on the laptop was installed via a pirated copy, and is stopping me from booting from the disc. So I can't even access recovery options.
Anyone any experience with this? Any ideas of how to remove the GRLDR (GRUB Loader)? Or any idea of how to reset the master boot record without booting from the disc?
Any help is greatly appreciated.
