Are there any USB devices plugged in? During installs and updates I've learned to remove those.
This ATI Mobility Radeon? HD4650 Graphics based laptop can be a lap burner. At 6 to 12 months we must blow out the vents with canned air or the machines tend to lock up and age quickly.
NOW is the time to extend the warranty and let them fix the machine.
I'm running a Sony Vaio FW laptop with Windows Vista Home Edition 64 bit. The laptop is about a year old now and I havent had any problems with it before this.
When I start the computer up, the desktop loads and a few startup programs start to run as well. After about 5 minutes however, the computer freezes up. I tried running it in safe mode but it hangs at crcdisk.sys. Ive tried startup repair, disk check, almost everything I could think of. In the end, I just ended up formatting my hard drive and reinstalling my operating system.
The reinstall went well and the computer was working fine. However at one point, I shut down the computer with some automatic updates being installed. The screen stuck at "Installing update 3 of 10." I left it like that for several hours and then just manually shut off my computer. When I turned it back on however, the same issue came up. Desktop froze after a few minutes and I safe mode hung on crcdisk.sys.
Any input on why this is happening or how I can fix it? Thanks!
