Vista 64 will not load driver for d-link network card

by jakiehung123 / January 13, 2009 10:32 PM PST

I just bought a gateway with Vista 64 bit. I installed drivers for my d-link AirPlus Xtreme G DWL-G520 revision b., then installed the card. Now vista gives me this error:
Atheros Wireless Network Adapter

Could not load driver software

Just the old lesson.

Sometimes that happens. You can complain bitterly or go get another card that works.

-> A clue perhaps is that athrx.sys was not found in the download I fetched from Dlink.

I looked at d-link.com

It's an old product, no longer supported and doesn't list Vista as a supported OS.

Better go and buy a more recent one. Be sure it supports Vista 64.

D link issue/64 bit

Best thing, replace router since it is not 64 capable, many and most of the N series routers will be 64 bit capable, so I would recommend that. Good luck.
