to get rid of the infected files that the System Restore recorded. See http://www.pchell.com/virus/systemrestore.shtml to turn it off. After turning off, restart the system. Scan again. If clean, enable System Restore again.
Just ran several different scans; NAV, Spyhunter etc.. on a disk from an HP 7955. There were about a hundred viruses and trojans found. It took all the programs to find all this stuff. Interestingly, all the bugs were found in the section of the disk for the system restore - such as this:
E:\System Volume Information\_restore{593172EE-14D9-4262-8426-24BF2115D284}\RP75
Backup 72.0 KB Trojan.StartPage
Is is possible for all these infections to have come in from the net and settle down in this group of files..or, did they come on the disk when she bought it? I have never seen anything like it before.
