Troj/Agent-HPC is a backdoor Trojan which allows a remote intruder to gain access and control over the computer.

Troj/Agent-HPC includes functionality to access the internet and communicate with a remote server via HTTP.

When first run Troj/Agent-HPC copies itself to randomly generated filenames in the Windows system folder.

A registry entry such of the following form is created to run the Trojan on startup:

HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run
<randomly generated string>
<path to copy of Trojan>

The Trojan is registered as a new system driver service with randomly chosen name and display name. The service will start automatically during system startup. Registry entries are created under:

HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\<randomly generated string>

Troj/Agent-HPA is a Trojan for the Windows platform.

When first run Troj/Agent-HPA copies itself to <Windows>\server.exe.

The following registry entries are created to run server.exe on startup:

HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer\Run

<Windows>\server.exe

( Trojan.Win32.Buzus.ujy, W32/Dloadr.BQY!tr, Win32/TrojanDownloader.FakeAlert.HK, Troj/Agent-HNJ, FakeAlert-AB )


SYMPTOMS:

This piece of malware downloads a fake antivirus software called "XP Antivirus" which is a "dynasty" of rogue antivirus software that infects computers trough different waves of malicious campaings.

Here is one sign that the infection occured ( this picture appears on the desktop ) :


Also, a window appears containing "Antivirus XP 2008" EULA which has only one button that says "Agree and install" with no posibility of canceling or closing the window.
