Troj/VB-ECD is a Trojan for the Windows platform.

When first run Troj/VB-ECD copies itself to Windows folder.

The following registry entry is created to run Troj/VB-ECD on startup:

HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run
wmiprevse
<Windows>\wmiprevse.exe

Aliases: Virus.Win32.Wuke.a (Kaspersky), W32/Wuke (McAfee), Trojan Horse (Symantec), TR/Drop.Wuke.C (Avira), W32/Pardona-G (Sophos),

Malware Overview

This Trojan may be downloaded unknowingly by a user when visiting malicious Web site(s).

Upon execution, it drops a file detected by Trend Micro as TROJ_ILOMO.K. It chooses the file name of the dropped file from a certain list. The said file is dropped in a specific folder.

It creates registry entry(ies) to enable its automatic execution at every system startup. It chooses from a list the registry value data to be created.

It deletes itself after execution.

Malware Overview

This Trojan may be dropped or downloaded by other malware.

It drops a memory-resident copy of itself in the Windows system folder. It also drops a non-malicious text file. It terminates the initially executed copy and executes the dropped copy.

It registers itself as a system service to ensure its automatic execution at every system startup.

It accesses Web sites to download TROJ_DLOADR.AWOQ. It then executes the downloaded Trojan. As a result, malicious routines of the downloaded Trojan are exhibited on the affected system.

This Trojan opens random ports to connect to a certain remote server where a malicious user may execute commands on the affected system. The said routine effectively compromises the affected system

Malware Overview

This Trojan may be dropped by the following malware:

* TROJ_DROPPER.EAA

It also arrives as dropped file in %Application Data% folder using several file names.

(Note: %Application Data% is the current user's Application Data folder, which is usually C:\Windows\Profiles\{user name}\Application Data on Windows 98 and ME, C:\WINNT\Profiles\{user name}\Application Data on Windows NT, and C:\Documents and Settings\{user name}\Local Settings\Application Data on Windows 2000, XP, and Server 2003.)

The intended routine of this Trojan is to download other malicious files from the Internet. However, due to errors in its code, it fails to perform its intended routine.

Help, my PC with Windows 10 won't shut down properly

Since upgrading to Windows 10 my computer won't shut down properly. I use the menu button shutdown and the screen goes blank, but the system does not fully shut down. The only way to get it to shut down is to hold the physical power button down till it shuts down. Any suggestions?
