virus software

I have a dia lup connection and cannot get the mcafee virus software to update - when I called they said their virus software doesn't work with dial up - can anyone give me a suggestion as t what to do?

Theres not much you can do really if thats their response. you could always try another one of the free av programs like microsoft security essentials or avg. If you can afford it you really need to try getting onto broadband with the cheapest plans you can find. Even the lowest of broadband plans will be a lot better than dialup

I wish more than anything that I could get broadband - HOWEVER we live out in the country where nothing is available but dialup

if that's the case then you can try other anti-virus that will work on dial up connections. I agree with Buz74, MSE and AVG are great anti-virus that can be updated using dial up connections.
