Virus scan when opening word doc.

How do I turn off the virus scan when opening word documents? I am running XP Home, Office 2003 and AVG.

it is AVG making the scan, and not NAV (Norton Anti Virus)?

This PC never had Norton, I installed AVG as soon as I powered it up.. The message at the lower left of the screen says running virus scan.

..but I have googled and have found what I hope is the answer, or at least a clue as to where to find an answer. I use AVG too, but have no MS Word related problems. So, although not quite the same as your problem, have a look -

I tried the fix and got an error. I will look into it with AVG later. Thanks for the link.
