System Restore takes snap shots of your system files so you can revert back to a date when your PC was working properly.
These restore points will harbor any viruses or parasite if your pC was infected at the time the System CheckPoint were made.
And these CheckPoints are stored in the protected folder System Volume Information which cannot be touched by NAV scan.
Thus the virus message will still show since the virus still exists in your SVI.
By turning off System Restore all these backed up restore points will be dumped together with the viruses. Then you can rescan your PC to make sure all is clear.
Don't forget to turn SR back on after the scan shows your PC is free of virus.
In addition it is recommended to also do an online virus scan.
I have Norton System Works on my XP system. Today a message popped up saying "Norton Antivirus has detected a virus on your computer" It then lists the object name (there are several of them), the virus name (W32.Klez.H@mm.enc). Then it says that "it is unable to repair this virus". The box won't close at all - how do I deal with this? Thanks!
