virus in pen drive

Could anyone please tell how to remove the autorun.inf virus in a pendrive. I have a transcend v30.Though i tried deleting through command prompt, it was fruitless. plz help..!!

Keep shift pressed when inserting the drive. That will cause the autorun.inf to be not activated (exactly like on a CD). Then you should be able to delete everything you want on the drive or even format it.

If not, tell what happens. Just "fruitless" doesn't tell anything.

Boot in Safe Mode then. Does that help?

And, of course, keep shift pressed when inserting the drive.

Safe Mode with command prompt migth also work. Then the command is: format e: (of whatever drive letter it gets).

http://www.techspot.com/vb/topic18654.html mentions various possibilities to turn off the write protection. I never had to use any of them, luckily.

It might be worth a try to do it on another computer (just in case it's a setting on yours). A Linux computer won't be harmed by anything that's on the drive, so that's surely the safest way to go.

Safe mode did the trick. Formatted the drive in safe mode.
