First Report: 2007-09-10

Malware type: JavaScript

This JavaScript is hosted on a certain URL.

This malicious JavaScript downloads, saves and executes this file. The said file is detected as TSPY_AGENT.AAWC.

As a result, routines of the downloaded spyware may be exhibited on the affected system. Variants of this malicious JavaScript do the said routine by exploiting certain browser vulnerabilities.

IM-Worm:W32/Skipi.A is an Instant Messaging worm that spreads via Skype Chat.

It sends short text messages with URLs for two different websites. After redirection, the recipient is prompted to download a copy of the worm with an .SCR extension.

Malware type: Trojan

This Trojan may be dropped by other malware. It may be downloaded unknowingly by a user when visiting malicious Web site(s).

Upon execution, this Trojan drops several files, some of which are detected as TROJ_TIBS.ART.

It may also arrive through emails which use social engineering techniques to entice users into clicking the links contained within the said emails. Sample emails are given below:

Malware type: Worm

This worm may be downloaded unknowingly by a user when visiting malicious Web sites.

It drops copies of itself in the Windows system folder. It also creates a certain registry entry to enable its automatic execution at every system startup.

It sends messages via certain instant messaging application(s) that contain a link pointing to a remote copy of itself.

It modifies the system's HOSTS files to prevent users from accessing certain Web sites.
