VIRUS ALERTS - November 20, 2006

W32/Stration-BQ

Type Worm

W32/Stration-BQ is a mass-mailing worm for the Windows platform.

W32/Stration-BQ includes functionality to download a file from a remote website and run it. At the time of writing, this downloaded file is also detected as W32/Strati-Gen.

Emails sent by the worm have the following characteristics:

Subject:
'Mail server report'
'picture'
'Mail Transaction Failed'
'Error'
'Status'
'hello'

Message text:

'The message contains Unicode characters and has been sent as a binary attachment'

'The message cannot be represented in 7-bit ASCII encoding and has been sent as a binary attachment.'

'Mail transaction failed. Partial message is available.'

'Mail server report.

Our firewall determined the e-mails containing worm copies are being sent from your computer.

Nowadays it happens from many computers, because this is a new virus type (Network Worms).

Using the new bug in the Windows, these viruses infect the computer unnoticeably.

After the penetrating into the computer the virus harvests all the e-mail addresses and sends the copies of itself to these e-mail addresses

Please install updates for worm elimination and your computer restoring.

W32/Agobot-AHR is a worm with IRC backdoor functionality for the Windows platform.

W32/Agobot-AHR runs continuously in the background, providing a backdoor server which allows a remote intruder to gain access and control over the computer via IRC channels.

W32/Agobot-AHR includes functionality to access the internet and communicate with a remote server via HTTP.

W32/Rbot-FWQ attempts to spread by exploiting the WKS vulnerability (MS03-049) (CAN-2003-0812) or by copying itself to network shares protected by weak passwords.

W32/Rbot-FWQ runs continuously in the background, providing a backdoor server which allows a remote intruder to gain access and control over the computer via IRC channels.

W32/Rbot-FWQ may modify the system HOSTS file, preventing access to certain websites.

Type Trojan

Troj/RBTG-A is a small malicious MS-DOS batch file Trojan, produced using the kit Troj/RBTG-Kit and containing instructions to format the hard drive and/or delete important system files and folders.

The Trojan will usually be appended to or replace C:\AUTOEXEC.BAT, so that it is executed automatically next time the computer is rebooted.
