W32/Theals-B is a virus and mass-mailing worm for the Windows platform.

W32/Theals-B infects EXE files found on the infected system.

W32/Theals-B spreads to other network computers by exploiting the RPC-DCOM (MS04-012) overflow vulnerability.

Emails sent by W32/Theals-B may have the subject line "Mail Delivery System" and contain the following message text:

"Mail delivery failed due to network error.

Partial message is available. See attachment for details."

The virus is included as an attachment with the filename message_part.pif.

Emails may also be sent with subject line and message text in a non-English character set.

W32/Theals-B attempts to hide itself on an infected system.

W32/Theals-B reports information specific to an infected computer to a pre-specified website, and attempts to steal information relating to the WebMoney financial service.

W32/Theals-B drops some files detected as W32/Theals-A.

W32/Maslan-H runs continuously in the background, providing a backdoor server which allows a remote intruder to gain access and control over the computer via IRC channels.

W32/Maslan-H drops W32/Maslan-A and Troj/Sdbot-RV.
