Spam pushing Vista SP1 Crackz
by Marianna Schmudlach / February 11, 2008 1:16 AM PST

Yes, it?s a ridiculous spam, but the malware it delivers is a rather nasty spambot. As Adam here says ?This is a very hard-to-remove spambot (full kernel malware), capitalizing on recent news events.?

Uses a redirect through Google (quite common these days) to deliver the user to the malware site. The initial payload is a trojan downloader (VT report here), which then pulls down the spambot, which we label as Trojan.Crypt.XPACK.Gen (VT report here).

Trojan Spreading via MSN Messenger
by Marianna Schmudlach / February 11, 2008 3:38 AM PST

added February 11, 2008 at 11:43 am

There are reports of a Trojan spreading via MSN Messenger. The Trojan arrives as a chat message with a link to a web site. This website links to an executable file. These messages may appear to come from a known contact.

US-CERT urges users and administrators to take the following preventative measures to help mitigate the security risks:

Install anti-virus software, and keep virus signature files up-to-date.
Refer to the Avoiding Social Engineering and Phishing Attacks document for more information on social engineering attacks.
US-CERT will provide more information as it becomes available.

Help, my PC with Windows 10 won't shut down properly

Since upgrading to Windows 10 my computer won't shut down properly. I use the menu button shutdown and the screen goes blank, but the system does not fully shut down. The only way to get it to shut down is to hold the physical power button down till it shuts down. Any suggestions?
