So i was reading some stuff on the computer, and then, bam! I got a virus. An windows alert told me that a virus downloaded on my computer. it won't let me into the computer, and it keeps repeating the same message. i have no idea what to do. My Mcafee subscription just expired, and I was going topurchase it again, right before the virus hit

Currenly, no virus autodownloads so

The more common issue is the user downloaded and installed it or you hit a bad website and it's a fake virus.

- What were you reading in what program in your computer?
- What "windows alert" exactly?
- How can it repeat a message if you can't even login?
- What message exactly is repeated when?

Anyway, I'd boot into Safe Mode and go back to the latest System Restore point before this happened. Might help.

The virus message that you got may just be a pop-up window

The virus message that you got may just be a pop-up window from your web browser. You may close that by opening Task Manager and end the task there. Then, you may run a scan on your computer.
