virtual cd rom drive, I need help deleting it.

I purchased this computer off of ebay and have
no software to work with.
I am running win xp pro on a Dell Optiplex GX24
I am having problems deleting a virtual cd rom drive
off my computer. I went into the device manager
and deleted the cd rom drive and after restarting
my computer the virtual drive is still there. When
I go to burn something the virtual drive shows up
but not the regular cd rom drive. So I need HELP
getting rid of that virtual cd drive. thanks for any
help I can get.
