VIORE PLASMA LOCKING UP & THE NEED OF A NEW REMOTE

Jun 11, 2006 12:08PM PDT

I've purchased my 42'' VIORE plasma on BLACK FRIDAY in '05 and its been ok EXCEPT that once in a while it will refuse to go to standby when I hit the power button nor change inputs, chanels, volume, etc in other words it just freezes so i have to end up switching the main power switch on its side OFF and letting it chill for a few minutes (I doubt that its healthy for me to interupt power while its still on.).I'm afraid to call customer service thanks to what I've have read in here but I will have to do it eventually.I just would like to know if anyone else had the same problem and what measures were taken so please let me know anything...on a lighter note GOD I HATE THAT DAMM REMOTE it looks like it was purchased at a 99cent store. Has anyone purchased a universal remote recently that WILL WORK,again please let me know.

I have come on here today to search for similar problems and hopefully find someone who has had a similar problem with repsir.

I have an LG Plasma which we brought in March 2007 and once every 3 months or so (sometimes more often sometimes less) it does exactly what you are describing.
We will be watching the TV and the picture will freeze. The sound continues but the screen just gets stuck on the same image. When we try to change chanel or switch the TV off it is non-responsive and we have to turn it off at the wall. But when we turn it back on the problem still remains until we crack the ***** and go to bed coz we can't watch the TV. Usually the next morning it is ok until it does it again in a few days weeks or months.

Last year I rang the extended warranty number (we purchased an extra 5 years) and I was told that it could be something that we might have to pay for but we will not know until after the service guy comes. (Sorry- am a bit vague of what else they said) but basically I decided not to get a service person look at it and just research ask around (which I haven't until now)

So I would be really interested to know if you have found out anything more and also- you mentioned that you have read something on these forums thats stopped you calling for warranty- do you mind me asking what? (I obviously have only just started researching this)

Cheers
Michelle
