Vinux is a customized release of Ubuntu aimed at the blind or low vision user. Unlike other Linux distro's, Vinux is accessable straight out of the box. A blind user can boot the "Live Dd" and run the entire installation without sighted help. The current stable LTS release is Vinux 3.0 (based on Ubuntu 10.04 Lucid) and a beta version Vinux 3.1 (based on Ubuntu 10.10 Maveric) was released in December 2010. Either version may be downloaded at www.vinux.org.uk/downloads.html or through our new domain at www.vinux-project.org We have a very small but active user/development group on Google Groups and everybody is freindly and willing to help resolve any issues you may run into during the installation and beyond. You don't have to be shut out of the world of Linux because of a visual impairment. Come join us.
