Viewing pictures on widescreen lcd monitor

by misterguy / December 27, 2007 1:39 PM PST

I?m not much of a computer guy so any suggestions would be helpful. One of my hobbies is scanning film and taking digital pictures. My old tube computer monitor just went out on me so I replaced it with a 19" lcd monitor. Being a widescreen monitor, it stretches all my pictures out when viewing. I would like to view my pictures in their native form. Any suggestions? Televisions just past through 4:3 with black bars on the side, but I know its apples and oranges. Is there a setting or program that could be helpful? Please let me know if more information is needed.

I actually think its one of my scanner settings. Some of my pictures dont display right and others do. The digital pictures always display perfectly. Thanks for the suggestion though Coryphaeus. Your always a big help.
