View miniDV on pc - NOT CAPTURE

Aug 2, 2010 6:12AM PDT

Hi all. My apologies if this has already been addressed however I can't seem to locate the search function.

I am fail today.

Anyway, I am using a Canon ZR900 miniDV camera. All I want to do is be able to utilize my desktop monitor as a playback window and my pc speakers for audio instead of having several people huddle around the tiny on-board screen and tinny sounding on-board speaker.

I use Premiere so I could do it there but it's a hassle to open up Premiere, create a project, open the capture window....I would really like to be able to just power up and go, controlling play, pause, etc directly from the camera but piping a/v through my pc. All I have is the USB to 1394 cable.

I'm running a PC with Win 7 (64 bit).

Any ideas?

Thanks.

Doesn't seem possible

From their manual, Canon ZR900 miniDV camera PDF format I see at page 55 that the movie file needs Video Editing Software to enable it to be played using a Windows media player.

It looks like you have to continue with your current method.
