Windows Movie Maker supports, among others, mpeg, mpeg1, but not mpeg2....You can convert your file to avi: Googled Results, then open in WMM ....
I just purchased a Canon FS100 video camera and want to upload a video to my webpage. The camera uses a SDHD memory card, and I am using Windows XP Media Edition. Using the Canon software that came with the camera, I had no trouble running the video on my PC and saving the file. The video is only 1 1/2 minutes, but is 155MB MPEG file. As I am not able to upload, I think that file is probably too big. I tried to pull it into Windows Movie Maker, as I see there is a function to upload to the web, and figured it might reduce the size, but it won't recognize the MPEG file. I saw on CNet that it has to be changed to another file extension, but I don't know how to do that. Can someone please explain how I do that, or is there an easier way to get this video small enough to upload. I recorded the video in XP for a better quality, and guess I shouldn't do that if I want to upload to the web. Thank you so much if anyone out there can help me.
