Video Tape to DVD

Mar 18, 2005 4:35PM PST

I'm planning to set up to convert the families analog video tapes to dvd. There seem to be three routes to capture the video ie:
1.To use a dedicated capture card
2.To use a TV tuner card
3.To use a firewire connection.
Can anyone offer advice as to the best way to go. Cost is a consideration

Look at outboard conversion devices. Hp's dc5000 costs

about $200 and handles the entire conversion. As a bonus, it also functions as an external DVD drive/burner with dual layer capability. It does need to be connected to the computer when it works. The capture process is done on the computer, and written to DVD at the end.
